Report, 1927 Feb. 9, submitted to Dean George Oscar Ferguson in answer to his question, "Why do so many Virginia men fail in their classes?"; a letter, 1927 May 11, Pres. Edwin Anderson Alderman to Frederick Hundley Quarles commenting on the report; and a letter, 1927 May 13, Dean Ferguson to Va. Chapter, O.D.K., commenting on the report. The report, lists five reasons why men fail: 1. Entrance requirements are far too low. 2. Too easy to stay in the University. 3. No incentive to study. 4. Too much responsibility is laid upon the student instructors. 5. Too many students in the University. The report then concludes with a discussion of the question of Jews at Virginia, concluding that "every member of this committee...with one exception, feels far more strongly about the Jewish problem than we do about the number of failures in the college."
